Terms & Conditions
CONTACT USThese Terms & Conditions apply to all services provided by The Grooming Room. By booking or attending an appointment, the Client confirms they have read, understood, and accepted the following terms and agrees to release The Grooming Room from any responsibility relating to issues that may arise during or after grooming.
1. Pet Safety & Welfare
Grooming is a hands-on process. Some dogs may react due to stress, fear, or medical conditions. If The Grooming Room deems continuation of the groom unsafe for either the dog or the groomer, we reserve the right to stop the session immediately. The Client will still be liable for costs of work undertaken.
The Client consents to the use of professional safety equipment such as grooming loops, muzzles, and restraints for the wellbeing of the dog and groomer.
If veterinary attention becomes necessary, The Grooming Room will act in the pet’s best interest. The Client agrees to be fully responsible for any veterinary costs incurred.
2. Matted Coats & Clip-Off Policy
Severe matting is a welfare issue and may require a short clip-off. Brushing out mats can cause pain, trauma, and skin injury therefore it will not be attempted if doing so compromises the dog’s welfare.
- The Client accepts the risk of irritation or nicks or underlying skin conditions being revealed once mats are removed.
- A £5 to £15 surcharge applies to all matted clip-offs due to increased labour, equipment wear, and product use.
3. Senior Dogs & Medical Considerations
Older pets, or those with medical conditions, may be at increased risk of:
- Stress or anxiety
- Skin sensitivity or injury
- Aggravation of existing health problems
The Client must disclose all known medical issues prior to grooming.
Should an emergency arise, The Grooming Room may seek urgent veterinary care at the Client’s expense.
4. Parasites & Infectious Conditions
If fleas, ticks, or other parasites are found, The Grooming Room will perform a parasite clean-down. A £10 parasite charge will apply.
If a dog presents signs of an infectious disease (e.g., kennel cough, skin infection), the appointment will be refused and a fee may apply.
5. Behaviour & Aggressive Dogs
The Client must inform The Grooming Room of any behavioural issues or aggression. If a dog becomes dangerous or uncontrollable, the groom may be stopped. The Client will still be responsible for payment of completed work.
The Grooming Room is not liable for injuries that occur if a dog flails, bites, jumps, or behaves unpredictably during grooming.
6. Vaccination Requirements
For the safety of all pets in our care, the Client confirms their dog is up to date with core vaccinations. Proof may be requested.
7. Cancellations, Deposits & Missed Appointments
- A 48-hour notice period is required for cancellations or changes
- Cancellations within 48 hours will incur 50% of the grooming fee
- Missed appointments/no shows will be charged 100% of the grooming fee
- A deposit may be required for future appointments if cancellations occur repeatedly
- These fees must be paid before another appointment can be made.
8. Payment Policy
Payment is due upon collection of the dog. The Grooming Room reserves the right to retain the dog until full payment has been received.
9. Late Collection Fees
Dogs must be collected promptly at the agreed time. We can agree to a late collection of up to 30 minutes only. A £5 charge per 15 minutes may apply for any late collection, as this impacts salon scheduling and dog welfare.
10. Photography & Social Media
The Grooming Room may take photographs of dogs during or after grooming for record-keeping, monitoring of coat and skin condition, and promotional use on social media and marketing platforms.
If the Client does not consent to this, they must advise The Grooming Room before the appointment.
11. Accidents & Liability
The Grooming Room takes every precaution to ensure safety and comfort. However, the Client acknowledges:
- Minor nicks, irritation, quicked nails, or reactions can occasionally occur
- Tools, products, restraints, and handling all carry a low but unavoidable level of risk
- Reactions to products used throughout the groom.
- The use of the Emmi Pet toothbrush does not replace a full dental investigation.
The Client agrees not to hold The Grooming Room responsible for injuries or medical issues that are uncovered or arise during or after grooming.
12. Client Responsibility
The Client confirms that:
- Their dog is fit and safe for grooming
- All relevant health and behaviour information has been disclosed
- They are the legal owner or authorised guardian of the dog
- The Client is responsible for any damage caused by their dog to persons, equipment, or property.
13. Data Protection
The Grooming Room will store Client details securely for the purpose of appointment and veterinary communication only. Information will not be shared without consent unless required for the wellbeing of the dog.
Acceptance of Terms
